Game 3: LA 5 SF 6. Gaylord Perry did not have his A stuff in this game -- or perhaps he'd run out of Vaseline. He was surprisingly hittable in the first inning, giving up three runs. He hung on by the skin of his teeth, giving up two more runs in the 6th on a two-run single by Bill Buckner. But the Giants began to come back, with solo home runs from McCovery and Dietz in the sixth and an RBI double by Bobby Bonds in the sevents, followed by an RBI single from Willie Mays.
