The two teams split their two game series in Detroit. The tigers won the opener in ten inninngs. With two on in the bottom of the tenth, the rains came. After the rain delay Rob Gardner came out of the A's pen and threw a wild pitch, then gave up a single to Aurelio Rodriguez to send every one, wet and happy. In the second game, Vida Blue was completely masterful and easily coasted to the victory.
