Bosox rally to erase a 3 run deficit behind Ken Tatum's 3 scoreless innings

Welcome to Comiskey Park I where Boston will take on Chicago (A). Gary Peters gets the start for Boston. He's made 5 starts on the year and is 1 and 3 with an ERA of 4.08. He'll be opposed by Bart Johnson. He's made 6 starts on the year and is 1 and 0 with an ERA of 2.82. It's 72 degrees, wind speed 10 mph, out to lcf.

With 1 out in the top of the 2nd Billy C lined a 370 foot blast into the bleachers in right center off of Bart Johnson to start the scoring. Duane Josephson followed with a double, but the bottom of the order stranded him on 2nd. Rick Reichardt opened the bottom of the 2nd with a 433 foot clout to dead center off of Gary Peters to tie the game at 1 all. Melton and Egan followed with walks and catcher Tom Egan blasted one into the left field pavilion to make it 4-1. Peters struggle to get out of the inning, but he did. With the bases loaded in the 4th Peters fanned Johnstone to again narrowly avoid trouble. To lead off the 7th Billy C singled to right, then went to third on Duane Josephson's liner to right. The Bosox made it 4-2 when Carlos May booted Doug Griffin's hard grounder to first. Mike Fiore came to the plate to pinch hit and walked on 6 pitches to load the bases with nobody out. Bart Johnson was now beginning to tire, and after walking in the 3rd run he was finally replaced by Steve Kealey. Reggie Smith lined to shallow center for the first out. Johnstone's momentum brought him close to the infield, so Griffin dared not attempt to tag. Yaz then hit a bullet to short that Lee Richard snagged and then threw to first narrowly missing doubling up Aparicio. Clutch Rico Petrocelli lined a bullet through the hole into left field to score two and give the Bosox a 5-4 lead. Scott followed that up with a single of his own to make it 6-4. By the time Billy C fanned the damage was already done. Boston posted a huge 5 run inning and the Comiskey Park faithful were stunned.

Ken Tatum came on and got 2 quick outs, but walked Carlos May who promptly stole second on a distracted Tatum. Reichardt swung wildly and fanned ending the Chisox threat in the 7th. With 2 outs Tatum was allowed to bat for himself and boy did he deliver with a 432 foot clout to left center to make it 7-4. Jay Johnstone singled with 1 out in the home 9th, but was pegged out by Josephson as he attempted to steal second. The next two batters weakly made out and Tatum notched a 3 inning no run save as the Bosox swept this series and look to get back on track after a miserable start.
