Sonny side of the street...Boston 4, Milwaukee 2

GAME 2: Boston has won 5 straight. Sonny Siebert will start for Boston. He's made 6 starts on the year and is 3 and 2 with an ERA of 2.82. He'll be opposed by Lew Krausse. He's made 5 starts on the year and is 4 and 3 with an ERA of 1.89. It's 66 degrees, wind speed 15 mph, out to rcf and we have light rain.

Aparicio led the game off with a clean single up the middle off of Brewer starter Lew Krausse, then was caught stealing for the 3rd out of the inning as he tried to test Brewer catcher Ellie Rodrguez' arm. The game remained scoreless until the 3rd when Doug Griffin hit a 2 run double and Luis Aparicio doubled him home w/2 outs. Boston starter, Sonny Siebert was throwing no hit ball until Rick Auerback hit a 2 out double in the bottom of the fifth. Pitcher Lew Krausse ended the inning by grounding weekly to Fiore at 1st. With 1 out in the top of the 6th Reggie Smith hit his 5th homer of the season into the right center field bleachers. Yaz followed with a clean single to right and Krausse was now done for the day. Lefty Marcelino Lopez came out of the pen to take over and on his second pitch he induced Petrocelli to ground into a 5-4 fielder's choice. Billy C hit a clean single to center to put runners on the corners with 2 out. Mike Fiore hit a warning track fly that was gloved by Johnny Briggs to end the inning.

Seibert walked Mike Hegan to start the bottom of the 6th, but 2 pitches later Ron Theobald hit into a 5-4-3 DP. Duane Josephson led off the inning by pulling one just fair down the line for his 5th homer of the season to make it 3-0 Boston. The bottom of the 7th saw Danny Walton earn a lead off walk, which was followed by a seeing eye single by Bill Voss. Roberto Pena flew out to Yaz in shallow left and Ellie Rodriguez loaded the bases with a parachute over Doug Griffin's head into right center. Rick Auerback worked the count to 3-2, but fanned on a strike at the knees. With Marcelino Lopez due up Andy Kosco was summoned from the bench to pinch hit and promptly singled through the hole to score two and narrow Boston's lead to 1 run. Mike Hegan ended the rally by popping to Aparicio at short.

Yaz, who was hitting .181 at the time turned on a Larry Bearnarth change up and hit it 331 feet for his 3rd homer of the season and in the process gave Boston a key insurance run by making the score 4-2. With runners on 1st and 3rd and 1 out Seibert looked to be in big trouble. Bill Voss let Seibert off the hook when he blasted a grounder right at Aparicio who turned the 6-4-3 DP to end the frame. With Sparky Lyle warming up in the pen Seibert came out to start the 9th and proceeded to mow down the 3 batters he faced to get the complete game victory and up his record to 4-2 and bring Boston back to the .500 mark for the first time all season.
