Yankees go into Boston and Sweep 2 game set

Game 1- The Yankees jumped on the Red Sox with 3 runs in the first. Starting Boston pitcher Sonny Siebert hit a 2 home run to help his cause to cut the lead to 3-2. But the Yankees strike with 4 runs in the 5th and 3 more in the 6th on their way to a 13-2 romp. Bobby Murcer lead the way by going 4-6 with 7 RBI's and hit his 12th homer of the season. Horace Clarke goes 4-5 with 5 runs scored. Danny Carter and Felipe Alou each had 3 hits, the Yankees as a team pounded out 19 hits. Steve Kline (4-2) gives up only 2 hits, none after Sieberts homer in the 3rd, and pitched a complete game.
Game 2-The Yankees finish the 2 game set with a 6-2 win. After yesterday's pounding, Boston's computer manager Marc Weiss must have went out and had too much to drink the night before and let it effect his calling of this game. Bill Lee started his first game of the season and didn't last long. He hit 105 pitches in 4.2 innings. With the Red Sox leading 1-0 in the 4th, Felipe Alou hit a 2 run homer to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead. With the score 3-2 in the 9th, the strange occurrences happened. With one out Gene Michael singles and is sacrificed to second by Stan Bahnsen. Horace Clarke flies out to make it 2 outs. Then computer manager Marc Weiss, still drinking after last nights loss, decided to bring out a Bill Veeck promotion out and let the fans make the decisions for him. Unfortunately, for him, the section was filled with Yankees fan! They decide to walk a 235 hitting Thurman Munson to face a 328 hitting Roy White. Then with a depleted bull pen, Marc elects to send out back up catcher Don Pavletich to pitch. Roy White proceeds to hit a 3 run homer to make it a 6-2 final. Roy White goes 3-5 with 4 RBI's and hit his 6th home run. Stan Bahnsen (4-1) goes all the way in the loss. After the game, all manager Marc Weiss could mutter was those damn yankees fans!!! --submitted by Jim Halpin--
