Monday, August 2. Back to bak doubles by Billy Williams and Joe Pepitone and a Brock Davis two run single produced three runs for the Cubs before the Astros came to the plate. The Astros scored single runs in the 7t and 8th but that was all they could manage off Fergie Jenkins (16-7). Don Wilson (8-12) took the loss. Cubs 4 Astros 2.
Tuesday August 3. Bill Hands (11-11) did not have anything today, and he was in good company as no other Cub had anything either. The Astros tallied five runs in the 2nd and in the 6th and romped to a 13-0 victory. Jimy Wynn (11) had a three run homer and had 4 rbis on the day. Roger Metzger drove in three runs.
