Joe Torre kept his hitting streak alive and extended it to 36 consecutive games when he singled in the 2nd inning. He doubled later just for good measure. That's where the good news ended for the hometown team. Lefties Claude Osteen (11-10, 2.74) and Steve Carlton (10-15, 3.98) posted goose eggs on the board for 6 innings until Steve Garvey blasted a 3 run shot to break the stalemet. LA added another run later in the inning when Joe Ferguson singled home Willie Crawford. Osteen stayed strong and completed the game with a 6 hit shutout.
