- LAD: 2 quick outs. Denny Doyle boots a Willie Davis grounder and throws it away. Richie Allen doubles home Willie Davis. PB by Tim McCarver allows Allen to move to third. Willie Crawford hits a 3-1 offering from Barry Lersch 401 feet to dead center for a 2 run homer to make it 3-0. Tom Haller ends the inning with a pop to right.
INNING 2
- PHI: D.Johnson K's, Montanez hits an opposite field single, Don Money singles to left (1st / 3rd). Ron Stone k's on 4 pitches. Oscar Gamble IBB. Barry Lersch singles up the middle to score 2 and cut LA's lead to 3-2. Doyle grounds out 4-3.
- LAD: Bobby V drags a bunt for a single. Russell 6-4-3 DP. Bill Singer bunts Russell to 2nd. Buckner lined out to 3rd.
INNING 3
- PHI: 3 up 3 down
- LAD: With 1 out Willie Davis beats out a weak grounder to short that Bowa couldn't handle. Richie Allen walked on 5 pitches (1st & 2nd). Willie Crawford lined one to Bowa at short who doubled up Allen at first on a bang bang hit and run play.
INNING 4
- PHI: Bill Russell let Money's weak grounder go right under his glove (E4). Ron Stone ended the inning w/a 4-6-3 DP.
- LAD: 3 up 3 down

- PHI: 3 up 3 down
- LAD: Singer leads off w/a seeing eye grounder in between 1st and 2nd for a hit. Buckner attempts to bunt him to second, but Lerch made a great play to force Singer at 2nd. Parker hit a slow ruller to second that Doyle barehanded, but could not throw Parker out at 1st (1st & 2nd w/1out). Davis K'd. Richie Allen hit a 3 run homer on a 3-1 counts. Ball traveled 403 feet into the left center field pavillion. That was Allen's 14th homer of the season and the score is now LA 6, PHI 2. Crawford lined to Bowas to end the inning.
INNING 6
- PHI: Bowa singles to center, then steals 2nd on the first pitch to McCarver, who flies to Buckner in right. D.Johnson singles to left to score Bowa (6-3 LA). Singer K's Montanez and Money to end the inning.
- LAD: 3 up 3 down. All 3 outs were weakly hit grounders to second and back to the box.

- PHI: 3 up 3 down
- LAD: 3 up 3 down
INNING 8
- PHI: With one out Valentine airmails a throw on Bowa's grounder to short allowing Bowa to wind up on 2nd with 1 out. McCarver singles to center (1st & 3rd), Bowa does not test Willie Davis' arm. Jose Pena and Jim Brewer begin warming in LA's pen. D.Johnson pops to Allen at 3rd. Jim Brewer comes on to fan Montanez who is terrible vs lefties.
- LAD: 3 up 3 down. Lersch k's Allen and Crawford.
INNING 9
- PHI: Money leads off w/a single to right. Stone lines to Russell at second who quickly tosses to Parker at first to double up Money. Terry Harmon pinch hits for Gamble and flys weakly to Buckner in right to end the game
