Tiny Tim !
GAME 2 - RFK Stadium - WAS 4, CAL 3
Clyde Wright was on cruise control for 7 innings when the floodgates opened up. While protecting a 1-0 lead Wright surrendered 4 runs to the usually hapless Nats offense in the bottom of the 7th. Frank "Hondo" Howard led off with a double. Rookie Jeff Burroughs singled to left, but he lumbering Howard was not able to score. Dick Billings hit one to the warning track, which was just far enough to score the slow footed Howard to tie the score at 1 apiece. Paul Casanova singled to put runners on 1st and second, which is where they stood until the moved up one base on Elliott Maddox's ground out. Light hitting Tim Cullen singled both runs home to make it 3-1 and pitcher Joe Grzenda (5-0, 1.76) helped his own cause with a flare to right that scored Cullen who was moving on the pitch. The top of the 8th saw Grzenda yield 2 runs and find his way to the shower as Paul Lindblad came on board for the final 4 outs to notch his 9th save and close the game out. --Game played by D.Zaner--
