Denny McLain was awful (5 runs in 6 innings), but the offense came to life to bail him out with a run in each of the final 3 frames. Horacio Pina (4-2, 3.58) threw 1 scoreless inning in relief to get the win. In a losing cause Roger Repoz hit 2 homers off McLain, which accounted for all 5 of California's runs score.--Game played by D.Zaner--
