Wednesday June 23. The Cubs opened the scoring with two runs in
the top of the first, but the game was tied by the end of the second. Milt Pappas (6-7) gave the Cubs a lead with an rbi single in the fourth. A two run homer by Tito Fuentes (6) in the fifth followed by a solo shot by Dick Dietz (11) in the sxth gave the Giants the margin needed for victory. Glenn Beckert saw his average dip below 400 for the first time since May 11 when he went hitless in his first three appearances against Juan Marichal (12-3).
