Motown/Beantown split

[6/30 - 7/1 @ Tiger Stadium, Detroit, MI]
GAME 1 (DET 9, BOS 7 - 11 inn):
This was not exactly a day for pitching. Boston's Gary Peters was gone after 5 innings and 5 runs. His counterpart Joe Coleman was done after 7.1 and 7 runs. Both offenses really had it in gear. The cavalry (aka...the pitching) didn't arrive until Scherman took the hill in the 8th and shut the Red Sox down completely until pinch hitter Norm Cash could win it with a walk off 2 run shot in the 11th off of the Spaceman, Bill Lee.

GAME 2 (BOS 9, DET 4):
Tied at 2-2 and going int the 5th Gilbreth looked to be hitting his grove for the Tigers, until the Bosox posted a 3 spot after sending 7 men to the plate. Boston added 3 more in the 8th when starter Sonny Siebert crushed a Denehy change up that found too much of the center of the plate. Ike Brown's 2 run shot in the bottom of the 9th made it marginally interesting until Siebert was able to retire the final 3 hitters to earn the series split.
