Ken Holtzman (9-11) held the Phillies to one run over his 6.1 innings, that being Willie Montanez 18th homer. Holtzman was suported by a 6 rbi day by Billiy Williams, including Williams' 19th homer. Saturnday July 24. Fergie Jenkins (15-6) was in complete control of this game,
giving up 4 hits, and no walks while striking out 12. Joe Pepitone homered (9) again. Rick Wise took the loss. (13-8) Cubs 4 Phillies 0
Sunday July 25 Chris Short (10-5) kept the Phillies from being swept by blanking the Cubs. Willie Montanez (19) homered for the Philllies. Bill Hands (10-10) got no help from his teammates. Phillies 3 Cubs 0
